Jacqui:

Greetings listeners. Today we're talking about something that could truly transform your 2025. The simple yet profound act of reading the Bible. I know, I know maybe you've heard this before, or maybe your Bible has been collecting a bit of dust on the shelf. No judgment here. In fact, let me ask you when was the last time you opened it up? Maybe you're curious, but it feels intimidating, or maybe you've been too busy thinking does it really make a difference? Well, today I want to share with you some surprising ways that consistent Bible reading can impact your life, and I promise this isn't about piling on guilt or throwing a bunch of stats at you. Think of it as an invitation to discover something new in the year ahead. Well, welcome everyone.

Jacqui:

I'm your host, J Adewale, and this is the Bible Basics Podcast, where, weekly, we break down the basics of the Bible into understandable, bite-sized chunks. So let me set the scene. Imagine this it's the start of a brand new year. You're feeling stuck, weighed down by stress or loneliness, relationships might feel strained, or maybe you're just going through the motions spiritually. What if there were something simple, something doable, that can help change all of that? Well, here's the good news it already exists and it's as close as your Bible.

Jacqui:

Studies show that regularly engaging with scripture, just four times a week or more, can lead to some incredible benefits. Let me share a few highlights. First, there's better mental health. Did you know that people who read the Bible at least four days a week are 30% less likely to struggle with loneliness? Less likely to struggle with loneliness? That's huge. We all know how isolating life can feel sometimes, but spending time in God's Word reminds us that we're never truly alone. And here's another one those same Bible readers were 32% less likely to deal with anger issues. If you ever felt like your temper gets the best of you or like your thoughts sometimes spiral into negativity, this is one way you might find peace and perspective.

Jacqui:

And let's talk about relationships for a moment. Whether it's your marriage, your friendships or even family dynamics, life is just better when our relationships are healthy. The same study found that people who read the Bible regularly were 40% less likely to experience relational struggles. They were also way more likely to mentor or disciple others 231% more likely, in fact. Can you imagine what kind of impact that might look like in your home, your church or your community? And then there's better choices and better habits. If you've ever struggled with breaking bad habits, scripture can help with that too. . Those who read the Bible four times a week were 59% less likely to view pornography and 57% less likely to get drunk. Why? Because God's word doesn't just inform, it transforms.

Jacqui:

Finally, let's talk about your faith. Many people have moments where they feel spiritually stuck, but consistent Bible readers were 60% less likely to feel stagnant. They were also 228% more likely to share their faith and an incredible 407% more likely to memorize Scripture. What really stood out to me in all of this? Christians who don't spend time in the Bible regularly, meaning at least four days a week.. They live lives that look statistically the same as people who aren't Christians at all. Let that sink in for a moment. It's not just what we say. We believe that changes us. It's what we do with that belief. Engaging with God's Word is what makes the difference. That belief, engaging with God's Word, is what makes the difference.

Jacqui:

So what if, this year 2025, instead of making resolutions that fizzle out, you started a habit that could change everything? Don't overcomplicate it, just start. You don't need hours of quiet time or a Bible degree. Even 10 minutes a day can make a difference. And here's a little encouragement the Bible isn't just a rule book or a history lesson. It's a love letter, a guide and a source of hope and wisdom from God for your everyday life. So, in closing, if you've been looking for a way to reset in 2025, this could be it. Start small, start simple, but start Well. That's it for today. I hope this episode has inspired you to open your Bible and see what God has in store for you this year. And, as always, keep reading, keep seeking and keep growing in your faith. Thank you so much for listening. So that we spread God's Word further, please share, like, follow and subscribe.
